We recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred time. We do accept walk-ins based on availability, but wait times can vary. Call us at (276) 806-9823 to check same-day availability — we do our best to fit you in.

Please bring any previous vaccination records, a list of current medications or supplements, and if your pet has a special diet, the name of the food. Dogs should be on a leash and cats in a secure carrier. Previous vet records are always helpful.

Absolutely — exotic animal care is one of Dr. Smithson's specialities. We see birds, reptiles, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, chinchillas, and other small mammals. Please mention your pet type when booking so we can prepare appropriately.

We accept all major credit and debit cards, cash, and CareCredit for larger treatment plans. Payment is due at the time of service. We always provide a full itemised estimate before any procedure so there are no surprises.

Call us at (276) 806-9823 or email hello@smithsonveterinary.com with your pet's name and the medication needed. Please allow 24–48 hours for processing. Refills require an active patient relationship — if your pet hasn't been seen in over 12 months, a wellness exam may be required first.

For after-hours emergencies, please call the Southwest Virginia Emergency Veterinary Clinic at (276) 228-8855 — open 24/7. If your pet is treated there, please ask them to send records to us so we can continue their care without interruption.
